The Montessori Guide will be responsible for facilitating student learning according to the principles of the Montessori Method, while fostering a total Spanish immersion environment. The role involves creating a prepared environment that supports the academic, emotional, and social development of children, helping them become independent learners within a diverse and collaborative community.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing the environment: Create and maintain a Montessori classroom that encourages exploration, curiosity, and independent learning in a Spanish immersion context.
- Guiding individualized learning: Observe and assess each student’s progress, providing opportunities for learning based on each child’s needs and interests.
- Spanish immersion: Teach in Spanish consistently, promoting understanding and use of the language through hands-on activities, conversations, and educational materials.
- Collaboration with the educational team: Work closely with other guides, teachers, and staff to ensure a consistent and enriching educational experience for students.
- Social-emotional development: Support students' personal growth by fostering independence, mutual respect, and responsibility.
- Promoting positive discipline: Implement strategies to encourage a respectful and self-regulated classroom, in line with Montessori principles.
- Parent communication: Participate in regular meetings with parents to inform them of their child’s progress and suggest ways to support learning at home.
- Community involvement: Be an active part of the school community, participating in events, extracurricular activities, and professional development meetings.
Requirements:
- Montessori Guide certification (preferably AMS, AMI or Macte.).
- Fluent Spanish language skills, both spoken and written.
- Previous experience working with children in a Montessori environment, preferably in a language immersion school.
- Passion for working with children and a commitment to their development.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
Desirable qualities:
- Experience in multicultural environments.
- Knowledge and experience in developing educational materials in Spanish.
- Positive, creative, and flexible attitude.
