What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Ministry Coordinator position at Springdale Presbyterian Church?
The Youth Ministry Coordinator provides leadership and coordination of ministries and programming for youth from 6th through 12th grade at Springdale Presbyterian Church.
Duties include:
- Plan, in conjunction with Pastor and Spiritual Nurture Committee, and coordinate youth ministries and programming:
- Integrated participation in worship:
- Instill the importance of youth participation in weekly congregational worship
- Assist youth in planning and leading at least one worship service per year
- Plan and lead youth group activities
- Lead special programming (Murder Mystery, Trivia Night, Souper Bowl of Caring, etc.); summer musical or similar camp, Halloween activities, trivia nights, etc.)
- Select, modify, and/or create youth educational curricula
- Provide training of volunteers as required for assisting with youth activities
- Provide, in conjunction with Spiritual Nurture Committee, specific training of all volunteers regarding Vulnerable Populations Protection Policy and the Springdale Welcome Statement
- Be an advocate for youth and educate the congregation about the hopes, concerns, and needs of youth in the local church and community.
- Establish and maintain regular communication and develop relationships with families regarding children’s ministries and programming
- Other duties, as assigned.
Recommended Education/Experience:
- Three to five years of experience providing Christian education. Current understanding of emerging trends in children’s ministry and congregational dynamics
- A Certified Christian Educator preferred, or comparable experience and demonstrable skill in children’s/family ministry, or comparable experience.
