POSITION: Business Engagement Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President, Economic Development
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
The Business Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in the Chamber’s Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) program, identifying opportunities for investment and job growth, addressing challenges facing existing businesses, and facilitating solutions that promote business retention, expansion, and attraction.
This position is regionally focused, engaging with businesses across the Springfield metro and surrounding communities, fostering relationships with regional partners, and supporting the Ozarks Regional Economic Partnership (OREP).
The coordinator also collaborates with the Manager of Business Development to strengthen business engagement, coordinate meetings, support industry events, and build a robust network of community leaders. Additional responsibilities include evaluating business opportunities, assisting with marketing materials, and promoting available real estate assets.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Including, but not limited to the following:
· Regional Business Outreach – Conduct visits with company leaders to assess industry trends, challenges, and
opportunities.
· Business Expansion & Investment Support – Assist in proposals, RFI responses, and site selection efforts.
· Regional & Community Engagement – Actively participate in industry events, economic development initiatives,
and networking programs within an hour (approximate) radius of Springfield.
· Resource Navigation – Stay informed on local, state, and federal economic development programs to connect
businesses with the right resources.
· Pipeline Management – Identify and engage businesses needing support, tracking outreach and progress.
· Investor & Partner Relations – Support Chamber and SBDC investor relations, manage billing, and strengthen
partnerships.
· Reporting – Provide timely updates on regional business trends and economic development activities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
· 1–5 years of experience in economic development, sales, commercial real estate, business assistance, banking,
or a related field.
· Strong communication skills for engaging executives and community leaders.
· Experience managing business development pipelines and outreach.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
