Who We Are:
The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Math or Science Teacher at Springfield High School for the 2024-2025 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. As a Teacher you are required to:
- Current 7-12 licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education in Math or Science.
- Be flexible in your work schedule and be willing to attend/participate in professional development sessions
- Be willing to serve on teams
- Have the ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrate enthusiasm in your role
Preferred qualifications:
- Previous experience in an urban setting, not required
As a Teacher you will:
- Developing lesson plans and instructional materials and providing individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each student.
- Managing an organized and professional classroom that is conducive to learning and the development of the whole child.
- Fostering a cooperative and respectful partnership with families and encouraging parent involvement through classroom observations and volunteer opportunities.
- Maintaining close relationships with parents, communicating on a regular basis, specifically in regards to at-risk students.
- Actively engaging at-risk students in the learning process; planning and using appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
- Recognizing the needs of individual students and the entire group and offering support and flexibility as needed.
- Working as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out the goals of our District.
- Utilizing technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Participating in professional development activities that are aligned with district and building goals, assigned subject content and the varied needs of students.
What We Offer:
As a contracted employee, Teachers work 183 days per year and 7.25 hours per day.
Starting salary is $42,957.00 with increases for additional education and experience.
