Description
The Department of Education at Springfield College seeks an adjunct to work with graduate students completing an introductory special education course during the summer, with the possibility of a fall semester teaching option. We seek individuals with current or former special education teaching experience in the prekindergarten to twelfth-grade setting and/or higher education.
General Expectations: Facilitate learning experience for students in a synchronous format via Zoom and/or in-person and asynchronous formats. Utilize D2L: Brightspace for all course engagement. Offer office hours via Zoom (1 hour per week per class).
Qualifications
Required: Interested individuals must hold at least an M.A., M.S., or M.Ed., a minimum of five years of PK-12 special education teaching experience, some higher education teaching or student teacher supervising experience, federal and state special education regulations, knowledge of evidence-based practices for serving students with disabilities, knowledge of universal design for learning, experience with collaborative or inclusive teaching environments, the ability to share assistive technology, the ability to discuss transition planning, demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a racial, ethnic, and linguistic diverse student population, and excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred: Current licensure/certification in special education. Doctorate in special education or related field.
Compensation for adjunct faculty with fewer than 3 years college teaching experience is $2820 for a 3-credit courseCompensation for adjunct faculty with 3 or more years college teaching experience is $3513 for a 3-credit course.
