Description
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Director of Enterprise Applications is responsible for leading the management, implementation, development, and support of the College's enterprise systems, including Banner SaaS, Slate, CBORD, Brightspace, and other critical platforms. The Director will serve as a technical expert in core systems, troubleshooting complex issues, optimizing processes and ensuring seamless integrations. While the Director oversees enterprise systems, responsibility for Banner Security, Banner Access Management, and all Identity and Access Management functions resides with the Senior Director of Network, Infrastructure, and Security. This role supervises a small team, collaborates with campus stakeholders to align technology with institutional needs, and oversees data integrity, and vendor relationships, and with authoritative guidance from the CISO ensures data security. The incumbent will play a hands-on-role in managing enterprise applications, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the adoption of innovate solutions. Strong technical, leadership, and project management skills are essential, as well as a commitment to delivering exceptional service in a higher education environment.
Responsibilities
Leadership. The Director of Enterprise Applications must be aware of trends in the field as well as the needs of the college, and must bring the two together as the technology becomes cost-effective. He or she is responsible for setting priorities for the team which align with the priorities of the institution. The Director must ensure that cyber security is a fundamental priority and concern in all activities. Technology decisions must serve the college into the future.
Management. The Director leads a team of 5-6, and works closely with Enrollment Management Data Services. The director is responsible for mentoring and professional development of staff and allocation of responsibilities. The team includes systems analyst / programmers, a report writer and a senior system administrator for CBORD and Brightspace.
Project management. The director is the lead on major projects and is responsible for the success of smaller projects. They must ensure that good project methodologies are followed and that the team communicates effectively with itself and the relevant functional area(s).
Application development & new product research. The director is responsible for ensuring that the team delivers quality work at all phases of an enterprise systems project. The director is also responsible for researching and evaluating new innovative products and methodologies to meet current and future needs.
Application support. Enterprise Systems supports a diverse portfolio of technologies, including Banner SaaS for Student, Finance, and HR, alongside more than 30 third-party systems and homegrown applications with custom scripts that enable seamless integration. These systems span multiple generations of technology, requiring the Director to Ensure support for both legacy and modern platforms. The Director must develop a comprehensive understanding of all systems, their interactions, and their impact on institutional operations.
External Relations / Communications / documentation / training. Ensure the quality of communications between the team and the rest of the campus, that new systems and processes are documented, and that adequate training is provided to new system users.
Customer service. Ensure that a reasonable standard of customer service is provided. Emergencies must be handled appropriately, and College staff need to understand the timetable on which they might reasonably be able to expect a response to their requests.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- More than 5 years' directly-related experience.
- Proven track record of effectively accomplishing projects and managing people.
- Strong computer programming and logic skills.
- Experience maintaining application systems in a mid-size enterprise environment.
