What are the responsibilities and job description for the In School Suspension (ISS) Assistant position at Springfield Middle School?
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required. At least two years of college preferred.
- High moral and ethical standards.
- A genuine interest in children and youth.
- An understanding of and a belief in the role of a teacher
- Good health, emotional stability, vitality and enthusiasm.
- Correct oral and written communication skills.
Reports to: Principal (and his/her designee) and assigned teacher(s).
Job Goal: To help provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class
environment in which students can take full advantage of the
instructional program and instructional materials.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
- Administer, score and record such tests as the teacher recommends for individual
- Guide independent study, enrichment work and remedial work assigned by the teacher
- Check notebooks, workbooks, and other written work.
- Observe and monitor student behavior, and correct minor problems.
- Help supervise halls and playgrounds as directed by the principal.
- Manage, or assist with the “school store” as directed by principal (if applicable).
- Provide car/bus duty supervision when directed by the principal.
- Serve as a substitute teacher for assigned teacher in emergency situation when directed by the principal.
- Participates in staff development training programs for teacher assistants and
- other appropriate training as assigned by the principal.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the principal.
- Input student data in to the Power School system as needed.
Terms of Employment:
185 days unless otherwise stated by administration. FMSD S6 Salary Schedule.
Evaluation: Performance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance
with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of noncertified
personnel.
