The Special Projects Manager (SPM) has significant responsibility in the areas of general administration, special projects, and governance. You are a detail-oriented "doer" who has experience showing exceptional judgment while managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), you will work on a range of projects that span compliance, governance, operations, and communications, freeing the ED to focus on fundraising, strategy, and organizational leadership. In a special projects role, you will be required to work across teams and departments and pivot as needs arise.

The MSP is a full-time, year-round administrator position with generous paid time off (5 weeks vacation plus 12 paid holidays and 9 days of personal and sick time). The salary range for this position is $84,207 to $97,863 based on demonstrated experience at this level. The school provides full benefits and a working environment that includes all the necessary technology and resources to succeed. What does the Special Projects Manager do?
Administration & Compliance
- Develop expertise in key areas of public school compliance; support the ED in applying research, analysis, and writing skills to the school's emergent policy, legal, advocacy, and compliance needs in partnership with school counsel as needed.
- Drive collaborative work on key compliance cycles (e.g., Annual Reports, Accountability Reports, Handbook and Policy updates, DESE site visits).
- Support the ED and senior leaders to meet the requirements of the Superintendent's Checklist and internal annual cross-functional task list.
- Contribute to other reporting requirements as needed (Financial, State, Federal, lender, etc.)
- Oversee meeting scheduling, planning, and follow-up for the School's Board of Trustees and subcommittees by supporting the coordination with the Board Chair and Committee Chairs; ensuring compliance with aspects of the Open Meeting Law, and taking meeting minutes.
- Liaise with the ED, CFO, and counsel to support compliance, meeting preparation, and follow-up for the school's mission-affiliated nonprofit organizations.
- Lead annual survey processes to drive continuous school improvement; support and/or lead survey development/improvement, data analysis, and action steps.
- Do ad hoc data analysis as needed and/or coordinate the production of data from other leaders and data platforms.
- Support select school operations initiatives as needed (e.g., enrollment, event and field trip planning, family engagement initiatives, and assessment coordination).

- You are exceptionally detail-oriented
- You are a fast learner who can quickly adapt and lead through change when given new initiatives and responsibilities
- You are an independent self-starter with a high degree of personal responsibility and capacity for self-managing multiple high-level projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- You are an experienced project manager who can work across teams to deliver results
- You have strong data analysis and Excel/Google Sheets skills — you use data tools to efficiently turn synthesized data into clear takeaways and use that to drive organizational improvement
- You have exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, research, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, Springfield Prep's Board of Trustees, staff, and external partners
- Bachelor's degree, Advanced degree in related field preferred (e.g., MPA, JD)
- At least 5 years of related work experience, experience as a manager or program leader strongly preferred
- Direct experience working in a field with a high degree of state oversight and a complex compliance framework
- Experience managing projects in one or more of the areas under the SPM purview
- Direct experience working with nonprofit or public boards of trustees strongly preferred
