Acts as a business liaison to principals and department heads.  Compiles statistical data to be used in the development of the overall annual budget.  Mentors and assists in the professional development of the financial analysts within the office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides financial accounting and reporting for all school district activities including general operations and grants using the MUNIS financial accounting software system, financial statement preparation and reporting, budget preparation and analysis, payroll management, performance reporting measures, grant reporting and compliance auditing. Implements any corrective actions identified in audits.
  • Forecasts revenues and expenditures, analyzes departmental spending and implements cost control measures to align departmental spending with authorized appropriation limits.
  • Identifies and monitors key budget and policy issues and proposes and analyzes savings initiatives to increase efficiency and standardize operations. Works with department heads to assist with financial, procurement or other business needs.
  • Acts as business liaison to schools and departments. Offers consultation and support on best practices, procurement, financial management, applicable laws, regulations, policies and processes.
  • Develops and implements all aspects to the annual operating budget, including composing the budget document.
  • Performs related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

  

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar field of study and at least 5 years experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position requires employee be in an office or similar indoor environment.  Employee may be exposed to individuals who are rude or irate.
