GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is responsible for providing support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for influencing behavior by assessing, understanding and providing guidance. Responsible for conducting assessments for aptitudes, attitudes, abilities, interests, personal characteristics and intelligence. Collaborates with other staff and parents to assist with the intent of meeting the needs of students, parents and staff while enhancing the effectiveness of the program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assess student's functional capabilities and home and / or classroom environment to determine student's functional level and develop recommendations.
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, parents, other personnel and / or outside professionals to assist in developing programming for students with disabilities.
- Communicate with teachers, parents, or other personnel to evaluate situations, solve problems and / or resolve conflicts.
- Administer standardized and / or supplemental assessments measuring the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social and emotional development of children.
- Assist teams in determining eligibility for special education services in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments, develops behavior plans, and behavioral curriculum modifications for classroom use.
- Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars as assigned conveying and / or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Prepares a wide variety of materials documenting activities, providing written reference, and / or conveying information.
- Researches resources and methods determining the appropriate approach for addressing students' functional goals.
- Performs other related duties as required / assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.Minimum of one (1) year of job-related experience is preferred.Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
Licensed Professional Counselor certification, required.Ability to obtain and maintain "Highly Qualified" status as defined by Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, required.Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.The work is medium work that requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force to move objects.Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and / or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.Additionally, the following physical abilities are required : balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
