Springs Window Fashions is hiring for a Buyer / Planner at our SunSetter location in McAllen, Texas

Job Purpose : This role reports to the Materials Manager and is responsible for maximizing service performance while minimizing inventory investment on select product groups through detailed planning in association with mid-level planning.

Responsibilities

Create and execute purchase orders based on MRP recommendations.
Utilize internal systems to proactively identify and communicate key drivers and proposed solutions to service and inventory issues.
Expedite critical or past due orders and revise purchase order dates.
Help maintain system accuracy, including lead-time, minimums, current supplier information, and current purchase order data with cross-functional teams.
Process interplant branch transfers as required.
Balance supply and demand to achieve the financial and service objectives of the company.
Collaborate with internal and external customers and suppliers to prioritize and deliver products and services that meet or exceed business needs.
Work with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Accounting, Sales, and Project Management to resolve issues quickly.
Ensure materials arrive on time according to customer needs in collaboration with the Scheduling team.
Work closely with the Quality Control team to resolve vendor quality issues in a timely manner.
Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Provide monthly forecasts to assigned vendors.
Develop a business relationship via conference calls to discuss open orders, issues, and set priorities.
Hold monthly meetings with key vendors to understand capacity and constraints.
Participate in various cross-functional meetings such as ECO Meetings, ERP implementation, product changeovers, etc.
Prepare and analyze various inventory control reports requested by management.
Procure MRO items at appropriate levels and price.
Special projects as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical competency, minimum in a business / industrial related field.

5 years sourcing / procurement related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Experience interacting with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, engineering, quality, materials, logistics, sales & marketing.

Demonstrated planner / buyer management skills.

Strong analytical and quantitative abilities; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Strong mathematical ability.

Possess very strong analytical skills.

Experience in manufacturing and material buying activities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills.

Demonstrated problem resolution and crisis management skills.

Proactive and self-motivated with a business perspective and a sense of urgency.

Accomplishments reflecting teamwork, integrity, accountability, and speed.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Ability to influence and lead.

MRP systems experience.
