The Quality Manager is responsible for performing standardized quality control checks on company products to ensure that they meet the required legal and company standards for safety and quality. This person also is required to maintain calibrated test equipment, prepare test data, and identify areas for quality control improvement.
- Perform Inspections of materials, identify non-conforming products and initiate reports according to procedures
- Disposition of non-conforming materials
- Conduct process audits verifying machine parameters, materials, and operator performance according to written work instructions.
- Inspect dimensions of calipers, micrometers, durometers and other gauges or other measuring devices to determine the accuracy of the machine operation.
- Inspection and verification of product between stages of production
- Check labels and ensure that information is correct on boxes of materials incoming to the plant as well as boxes before shipping products.
- Visually inspect work areas for compliance
- Inspect received material for a variety of qualities such as acceptable appearance, dimension and performance.
- Analyze and report shift scrap to the Production Manager
- Keep the work area clean and free from unnecessary clutter.
- Make suggestions and implement changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase safety and efficiency of the employees.
- Assist Engineering and Production personnel with any quality related issues.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Prior experience as a Plastics Quality Technician or as a Quality Assistant Preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to communicate effectively and perform basic math skills (addition, subtractions, multiplication, division and unit conversions)
- ·Must be able to work in a team environment
- Familiarity with basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, durometers)
- ISO 9001 Quality Certification a plus
- ·Must be detail oriented and have troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read blueprints and understand basic tolerances
- Available to work overtime- as needed
- Must have a high level of personal integrity
- Must have a strong work ethic and be able to perform job duties under pressure while meeting deadlines
