Description :

Under the direction of the Head of Museum Education and Public Programs, develops and implements educational school, outreach, and community programs for target audiences and performs general tasks for the Museum Education department. Specific tasks will vary depending on assignment. This position is funded through Professional Outreach Programs in the Schools (POPS). Part-time, some weekends, evenings, and travel required. 27 hours per week.

Duties :

• Develop and implement educational programs.
• Provide support for exhibition development, installation, and maintenance.
• Present outreach programs in classrooms throughout Utah.
• Facilitate museum tours.
• Coordinate statewide partnerships and local volunteer programs.
• Write curriculum for programs and resources integrated with K-12 USOE Core Standards.
• Track program attendance and prepare reports.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to promote SMA education programs and stay current with best practice.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

BA in Art Education, Art History, Humanities, or related education degree preferred. Previous museum experience, with demonstrated proficiency in informal teaching environments or guiding gallery tours, is desirable. Curriculum development and classroom management a plus.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Physical Demands :

Must possess and maintain a valid Utah driver's license, and successfully pass a background check. This job requires a significant amount of time sitting at a desk in front of a computer screen and using a keyboard for data entry. The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time is required, as well as some lifting, with the employee able to lift up to 30lbs.
