Temporary 1st grade teacher

Description: We are seeking a 1st grade teacher who is passionate about conducting fieldwork, building community partnerships and writing innovative, science centered place-based curriculum. This position will be temporary to fill in for the leave of our current classroom teacher. Students regularly leave school to use the environment and surrounding area as a classroom. The ideal candidate will have experience with both classroom teaching and outdoor environmental and science education. It is essential that our teachers have strong classroom management skills and are excited to work with a small, collaborative staff and school community. Mission and Vision The mission of Springwater Environmental Sciences School is to integrate the sciences throughout the academic core curriculum in a nurturing environment created and maintained by a high level of parent and community involvement. The philosophy of Springwater Environmental Sciences School is that the sciences are conducive to powerful learning, and that increasing the presence of hands-on experiences with “real World” science in all subjects will increase motivation, relevance, and achievement for our students, as well as foster children’s natural curiosity in the world around them.
