What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher position at Springwoods Behavioral Health?
Requirements:
Licenses or Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field. Current Arkansas Special Education Teaching Certificate or be willing to obtain it within 3 years. Completion of any required certifications for the Education Program as approved through the CEO. Must be CPR/First Aid certified. Must be certified in Handle With Care and Verbal De-escalation training. (Both CPR and HWC certifications can be provided by facility upon hire)
Total education, training and experience: Preferred two (2) years experience in teaching and/or teaching in a Special Education setting. Experience in a psychiatric setting strongly preferred but not required.

Springwoods Behavioral Health Services of Arkansas is looking for a Teacher for our acute child/adolescent patients. Under the general supervision of the Director of Education, this position exists to provide direct instruction and other educational services to hospitalized children and adolescents in order to help them maintain or improve their academic performance levels/standing and help them make a smooth post-discharge transition back into their home school setting.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Effective verbal and written skills needed to maintain contact with patient’s home school counselors and other school district personnel throughout the patient’s hospitalization, as well as post discharge.
General knowledge of state and federal laws governing Special Education—Approved School Programs.
Must be able to understand and respond to complex written and oral instructions.
Must possess skills necessary to respond quickly and calmly under stressful or emergency situations.
NOTE: ALL CLASSROOM LESSON PLANS AND GRADING WILL BE CONDUCTED WITHIN WORKING HOURS TO MAINTAIN PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
