Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm based in Raleigh, NC, has been engaged by Petroleum Marketing Group to conduct a search for an IT Manager to be based in Fayetteville, NC.
Petroleum Marketing Group was founded in 2001 and has since grown into one of the largest fuel distributors in the Eastern United States—serving over 1,200 sites from Maine to Florida. With a strong foundation in convenience store operations, PMG is seeking a hands-on, knowledgeable IT Manager to support its growing field operations in North Carolina.
The IT Manager will play a vital role in supporting PMG’s operational infrastructure in the Fayetteville region and surrounding areas. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, this individual will be responsible for managing local technology systems, ensuring secure and reliable network access across sites, and serving as a liaison between local teams and corporate IT. This is a hands-on and strategic role ideal for someone with a foundation in cybersecurity, networking, and server management, who also values being part of a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for IT support in the Fayetteville area convenience stores and neighboring locations (typically within a one-hour driving radius).
- Oversee and maintain local network infrastructure, including VPN setup, troubleshooting, and utilization.
- Manage servers, system configurations, and ensure secure, continuous connectivity at retail locations.
- Use of ERP systems; knowledge of PDI or similar systems is a plus.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity protocols and contribute to ongoing systems security improvements.
- Travel to retail sites for day trips as needed, providing on-site support and evaluation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of networking, VPN setup/utilization, and server management.
- Prior experience in IT support or systems management, ideally within a convenience store, retail or similar environment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (PDI experience a plus).
- Ability to drive to various retail sites; must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- A self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, customer service orientation, and a collaborative mindset.
