SUMMARY: Performs general or specialized accounting or financial review work for the Tribe. Assists Accounts Receivable Manager in performing a variety of professional accounting, fiscal transactions, and periodic reports, and year end reports in the area of processing accounts receivable. This position will back up the Cashier as needed. Positions in this class are considered working level professional accounting specialists.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Reviews accounting system and financial activities with the Tribe. Assists financial staff in confirming accuracy and compliance of systems and activities.
- Reviews and analyzes financial data for trends or anomalies. Supports other departments’ staff in financial related areas.
- Examines a variety of Accounts Receivable financial statements for accuracy.
- Inputs data in computerized accounting systems (MIP & UMS) and Excel spreadsheets.
- Maintains a variety of financial ledgers, journals and records.
- Maintains homeownership financial ledger and prepares tear end amortization reports.
- Imports data from Utility Management Systems (UMS) to Abila MIP fund accounting system on a weekly basis.
- Invoices various Inter-entity customers such as SPIPA, IEI, and LCCR on a weekly basis. Maintains files, offers assistance and answers customer inquiries.
- Reconciles various g/l accounts such as cell phones, fringe and miscellaneous.
- Writes, records and verifies cash receipts received from Tribal departments.
- Prepares, verifies, copies, and records documents for bank deposits.
- Coordinates, monitors, and verifies Budget and General Ledger (GL) balances.
- Prepares and updates Budget Commission spreadsheet for budget meetings when scheduled.
- Performs as a variety of senior clerical activities, such as: Composing, editing and typing correspondence, reports or summary information.
- Operates equipment such as copier, computer, printer, typewriter, calculator and fax machine. Other duties may be assigned.

This job entails a lot of close up reading, interpreting, and keying. Focus must shift easily from that surface to computer screen and vice versa.

Requirements:EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting courses and two years of professional accounting experience, OR Associate of Arts Degree with major study in accounting with a minimum of 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting and four years of professional accounting or auditing experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and six years of professional accounting experience providing 20 semester or 30 quarter hours of college-level accounting are achieved.
