Peer Support Specialist Supervisor

Squirrel Hill Health Center (SHHC), is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) seeking a dedicated and experienced Peer Support Specialist Supervisor to join our Behavioral Health and Clinical teams. The ideal candidate will provide behavioral health services, foster supportive peer relationships, and manage Peer Support Specialists (PSS) to ensure high-quality patient care. This role involves mentoring PSS, managing administrative tasks, and working collaboratively with staff to provide team-based coordinated care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the development of the Peer Support Program.
• Manage administrative tasks for PSS, including timekeeping and supervision.
• Match patients with peers and maintain patient panel databases.
• Meet regularly with Behavioral Health (BH) and Primary Care Provider (PCP) teams.
• Meet with patients in various settings based on needs.
• Act as a resource for PSS and identify training opportunities.
• Make and follow up on referrals from BH team and PCPs.
• Provide recovery education and support culturally competent care.
• Document and file case notes in SHHC's Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Comply with SHHC policies and safeguard confidential information.
  
  

Essential Functions

• Serve as an integral member of the SHHC Behavioral Health Team.
• Provide a role model for PSS and patients.
• Engage with patients to identify strengths and community resources.
• Support PSS in helping patients achieve individualized goals.
• Maintain own patient panel while supervising PSS.
• Conduct Peer Support meetings with referred patients.
• Refer and assist clients in obtaining supportive services.
• Collect data and report on patient follow-up and retention success measures.
• Comply with local, state, and federal licensing requirements.
  
  

Qualifications

• Certified Peer Specialist with state-approved training.
• State-approved training for Supervision of Certified Peer Specialists.
• Self-identified current or former user of behavioral health services.
• High School diploma or GED.
• At least 12 months of paid or volunteer work experience.
• Commitment to recovery, choice, empowerment, and peer support.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish trusting relationships.
• Detail-oriented with good writing and organizational abilities.
• Ability to network within the community and work with diverse populations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• All CDC recommended vaccines including COVID are required
