Position Overview:
The Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator within its Technology Services Division. The role involves hands-on planning, deployment, and operational upkeep of ASRS infrastructure and applications. The ideal candidate will work closely with IT teams to ensure a stable, high-performance infrastructure, while proactively monitoring and resolving complex issues. Additionally, this role promotes team efficiencies through DevOps/automation improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with IT teams (Security, Service Desk, QA, Production Support, vendors) to maintain a stable infrastructure.
- Oversee and manage multi-tiered applications, cloud services, physical/virtual servers, storage arrays, and security appliances.
- Automate operational tasks and improve team efficiencies using tools like PowerShell.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure and application issues.
- Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with Incident, Problem, Configuration, and Change Management processes.
- Administer Active Directory, group policies, and secure remote access solutions.
Skills & Experience Required:
- In-depth knowledge of multi-tiered application architecture and various server operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Experience with public-cloud services (AWS, etc.), storage arrays, security appliances, and virtual environments.
- Proficiency in PowerShell or other automation tools.
- Ability to work independently and provide professional customer service.
- Experience in 24x7 enterprise environments.
- Relevant industry certifications (AWS, Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, etc.) and/or a BS in Computer/Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Additional Information:
- Hybrid role, with some in-office attendance required (initial 3 days in office).
- Opportunity to transition to a full-time position after 6-9 months.
