Job Summary
SR1, an award winning organization, is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic ACT Tutors/Facilitators in the areas of English, Math, Reading, Science, and Writing to support the SR1 C.O.O.L.™ Zone Scott County Promise Neighborhood Initiative. This role involves providing high-quality instruction, personalized tutoring, and effective facilitation of ACT preparation sessions in person and online. Our goal is to empower students to achieve academic excellence, increase ACT scores, and prepare them for post-secondary success.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Support
· Deliver engaging, content-specific ACT preparation sessions tailored to the subject area (English, Math, Reading, Science, or Writing).
· Use evidence-based teaching strategies to enhance students’ understanding and retention of ACT material.
· Break down complex concepts to make them accessible to students of varying academic levels.
Personalized Tutoring
· Conduct one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions to address individual student needs.
· Identify and target students' strengths and weaknesses to maximize their ACT performance.
· Develop personalized study plans and provide constructive feedback to track progress.
Program Facilitation
· Support a collaborative and student-centered learning environment.
· Facilitate practice tests, monitor progress, and provide real-time strategies for test-taking.
· Assist in the planning and coordination of workshops, mock exams, and related events.
Student Engagement
· Build positive relationships with students to encourage confidence and motivation.
· Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and test-taking skills.
· Promote a growth mindset and emphasize the value of preparation and perseverance.
Administrative Duties
· Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
· Submit reports and updates to program coordinators as required.
· Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in education, a relevant subject area, or a related field
· Demonstrated expertise in at least one ACT subject area: English, Math, Reading, Science, or Writing.
· Prior experience teaching or tutoring middle and/or high school students in standardized test preparation is highly desirable.
· Strong understanding of the ACT structure, question types, and scoring methodology.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to motivate and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience working with rural, underserved, or minority student populations.
· Familiarity with technology-enhanced teaching tools and ACT prep software.
· Ability to adapt to various learning styles and instructional needs.
Compensation
Compensation is competitive and based on qualifications and experience.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
Schedule:
- After school
- Day shift
- Evenings as needed
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
