Production Team Leader

The Team Leader is responsible for the department's throughput and quality of the product which is measured to a standard. The team leader ensures that an associate has the knowledge, skills, and ability to work safely, set up, and operate one or multiple machines in the department. The team leader also functions as a machine operator, assembler, or other direct work capacity and must meet the expectations of the respective job description.

Primary responsibilities include :

  • Ensure direct workers have the materials and tooling needed to produce the product within the work piece standard
  • Report safety concerns, machine repairs, and process updates to the Production Supervisor
  • Initiates the change process when identifying the need for work adaptations such as job set up, jigs and fixtures, and material flow
  • Recognize an associates' strengths and weaknesses allowing them to be successful in the department or work cell and to give them the development to be an asset to the organization
  • Anticipates and determines causes of delays in production operations due to material or tooling problems and takes appropriate action to meet work schedules
  • Immediately report delays in production operations due to unforeseen issues such as machine down or personnel issues
  • Assist the Production Supervisor in formulating contingency plans ensuring personnel and machinery are being fully utilized
  • Assign individuals to specific job tasks
  • Demonstrate and teach job duties to associates and observe the performance of associates in the production team to ensure compliance with safety regulations and process requirements
  • Encourages all team members to stay on task and remain at their work station
  • Responsible and accountable for maintaining the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition

Essential Qualifications

  • Clear verbal and written communications skills
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to use computer systems to retrieve safety information, work processes, bills of materials, etc.
  • Leadership Training (Supervisory Certificate, Zenger Miller, etc)
  • Skills and experience corresponding to the direct work being performed listed above
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in a manufacturing paced assembly line setting

    Overtime on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 : 00am to 3 : 30pm as needed.
