Job Description
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a highly skilled clinician who applies their expertise to a specialized area, with a focus on education, mentoring, and leadership. The CNS will provide expert consultation to nursing staff and other healthcare professionals, ensuring that evidence-based practices are implemented and that care delivery systems are continuously improved.
As part of the role, you will help guide nursing practice, improve clinical outcomes, and ensure that our patients receive exceptional care. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of healthcare providers to improve clinical protocols and contribute to an overall better patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert consultation to nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Lead educational initiatives and mentor nursing staff.
- Implement and evaluate improvements in healthcare delivery systems.
- Assist in the development and review of clinical care protocols.
- Collaborate with leadership to advance nursing practice and patient care.
- Participate in research and contribute to evidence-based practices in nursing.
Minimum Requirements
- Education:
- Master's Degree from an accredited clinical nurse specialist program (CCNE or NLNAC) or a Ph.D. from an accredited CNS program, or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
- Current enrollment in an accredited CNS program may also be considered.
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Washington Registered Nurse License (upon hire).
- National Provider BLS (American Heart Association) Certification (upon hire).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of registered nursing experience in the area of specialty.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) upon hire.
- Certification in the area of specialty upon hire.
- 2 years of clinical leadership experience.
