Position Summary:
The Production Technician II is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining production filling and filling support equipment. This role will also involve assembling and testing manufactured goods to ensure that products are working as intended and are free of defects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate solution filling lines, vial cappers, and tray loading lines.
- Perform fill weight checks and bottle torque checks on filled product containers.
- Set up and perform sterile solution filtration processes.
- Unload sterilized equipment from autoclaves and depyrogenated glassware from ovens.
- Operate autoclaves for sterilizing equipment and for terminally sterilizing products.
- Operate vial and ampoule washers in conjunction with dry heat ovens for aseptic processing.
- Clean and prepare filling gear and equipment for use across multiple filling operations.
- Complete batch record paperwork and review applicable SOPs and documentation.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support new equipment validation efforts.
- Perform supervisory duties in the absence of the supervisor or during second shift operations.
- Train new employees on all job duties.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Two years of related pharmaceutical experience and/or training.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Advanced mechanical training is a plus.
Job Prerequisites:
- Must meet attendance standards, working a 40-hour week and additional hours when needed to meet deadlines.
- Become certified to work in cleanrooms for aseptic filling.
- Superior mechanical aptitude for setup and maintenance of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment is essential.
- Ability to work well with peers and team members in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to maintain personal hygiene suitable for a cleanroom manufacturing environment.
- Ability to adapt to change and perform under pressure with time constraints.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
- Use hands to handle, finger, or feel.
- A large amount of time will be spent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Must be able to lift objects up to 10 lbs and push carts weighing 500 to 1000 lbs.
- Ability to lift baskets with products weighing 10-20 lbs.

Work Environment:
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Handling products or substances that are caustic, carcinogenic, and/or flammable; proper safety equipment is provided and must be worn.
- Exposure to steam, hot containers, and hot WFI (Water For Injection) up to 121°C; proper safety equipment is provided.
- Exposure to dry heat ovens at temperatures up to 265°C; safety equipment is required.
- Exposure to open flames during the ampul sealing process.
