General Position Description
The Assistant Inventory Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of SBS’s inventory department. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will provide leadership and direction to a dynamic team, driving efficiency and innovation in a fast-paced environment. You’ll take ownership of strategic goals, mentor team members, and collaborate across departments to deliver excellence in inventory management and client satisfaction while embodying the SBS RICE values.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead with Vision: Inspire and guide the inventory team to align with SBS’s strategic goals and RICE values.
- Optimize Operations: Manage, coordinate, and monitor all inventory activities, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in space utilization, inventory tracking, and billing processes.
- Support Collaboration: Partner with QA, IT, HR, Facilities, and Validation teams to deliver high-quality services.
- Ensure Compliance: Author, review, and approve SOPs for cGMP activities while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships, respond to audits, and implement corrective actions within prescribed timelines.
- Team Development: Oversee staffing resources, provide training, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration that reflects SBS’s commitment to excellence.
- Emergency Preparedness: Actively participate in the Emergency Response Team (ERT) to ensure operational readiness.

Education and Experience
- College degree or 2 years of leadership and/or management experience.
- Experience in inventory management within a life sciences company is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and inventory management software.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Comfortable working in a repository environment with temperatures ranging from 23°C to -20°C.
- Must be able to stand, sit or remain in a stationary position for extended periods and handle repetitive tasks as required.
Work Authorization and Security Clearance
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and pass a background check and drug screening. As a federal contractor, SBS maintains a Drug-Free Workplace policy.
