Responsibilities
- Uphold and promote SRM Concrete’s commitment to operational cleanliness, ensuring that workplace practices positively impact the environment and support sustainability initiatives.
- Conduct regular inspections of sites to identify hazards, environmental risks, and safety concerns.
- Develop and implement inspection policies, procedures, and a schedule for routine inspections.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards.
- Coordinate and manage all motor vehicle accident and workers’ compensation processes within the assigned region.
- Maintain records of hazardous waste discharge, employee exposure to pollutants, and other environmental metrics as required.
- Create and implement short- and long-term strategies to build a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organization.
- Schedule and conduct training on workplace safety, emergency procedures, environmental compliance, and hazard awareness.
- Monitor compliance with safety and environmental procedures, documenting inspection findings in comprehensive reports.
- Ensure that Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to operate or willingness to learn how to operate machinery, including a sweeper, to maintain site cleanliness and environmental standards.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, safety compliance, and industry best practices.
- Ability to work independently in the Houston, Texas region, covering Freeport to College Station while coordinating with teams across multiple states.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Officeand technology used in safety and environmental inspections.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
- Five years of related experience in a safety or environmental management role.
- Capable of conducting inspections and carrying equipment.
- Comfortable with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
- Comfortable and physically able to visit and work at concrete plants and mines on a routine basis.
