SRU Federal Credit Union is in search of an Accounting Manager to join its management team. This position will report to the CEO with job duties including the oversight of finance, asset liability management, budgeting and forecasting. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting principles and established legal, regulatory, and credit union guidelines. Direct and manage all practices and activities in the Finance and Accounting functions to ensure compliance with State and Federal rules and regulations. Manage auditing, accounting, and recordkeeping activities of the credit union while adhering to generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP). At minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required with at least 5 years of demonstrated accounting and auditing experience. Preference will be given to applicants with prior financial management experience at a credit union or bank.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in the credit union’s long and short-term strategic planning. Oversee budget planning, preparation and administration processes to control operating expenses and achieve credit union’s strategic direction.
- Communicate with the Board of Directors, the Supervisory Committee and management team regarding strategic recommendations, financial results and policies which affect the credit union.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures for the Accounting/Finance functions. Ensure that policies and procedures reflect current regulations and are communicated to and implemented by subordinates.
- Represent the credit union at external functions as needed and attend monthly board meetings to report on assigned areas requested by the CEO.
- Manage subordinate staff to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the credit union including: hiring, directing job assignment, monitoring staff performance, coaching, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, and other duties as directed by the CEO.
- Assist with vendor negotiations and purchasing decisions for capital equipment or other capital asset expenditures.
- Work in conjunction with regulatory agency examiners and auditors.
- Oversee and manage the financial and accounting functions of the credit union including ALM, AP, budgets, collections, general ledger, financial analysis, financial reporting and recordkeeping, investments, and interest rate risk.
Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
