Insurance Verifier
Duties
- Verify patient insurance information and eligibility for services prior to appointments.
- Obtain authorizations
- Communicate with insurance companies to clarify coverage details and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient information confidentiality.
- Contacts patients to communicate patient responsibility due on the date of service
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to gather required information for insurance claims.
- Document all interactions with patients and insurance companies accurately in the medical office system.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, coding practices, and insurance verification processes.
- Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, and managed care principles is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in using office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and insurance representatives.
