Job Description
The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for surgical patients. Key responsibilities include:
- Accepting patient care assignments, communicating effectively with clinical area team members
- Conducting all appropriate nursing aspects of patient assessment using subjective and objective data
- Involving patients and their families in the plan of care, education, discharge planning, and prioritization of needs
- Placing patients/families appropriately in a timely manner
- Evaluating care by conducting ongoing assessments to identify effectiveness of interventions
- Making competent clinical decisions and displaying the ability to know when to involve management or other team members
- Providing information to physicians related to changes in patient conditions in a timely manner
- Documenting care given to patients and their response to care in a timely manner
- Administering medications, treatments, and nursing interventions as per hospital policy
- Applying existing evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to surgical nursing practice
Requirements
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing or equivalent education for licensing
- No experience required
