Summary/Objective
Produce machined product/parts in accordance with quality and production standard work requirements, customer specifications, and company safety standards. This position includes Machines Trainees and Interns.
Essential Functions
- Operate one machine (post-setup) as specified by Supervision.
- Follow all specifications provided in the Job Order package. (Traveler, blueprint, PQR etc.)
- Perform “machine start-up” activities as required/specified.
- Perform “machine maintenance” checks as required/specified.
- Performs 5S and Safety checks as required/specified.
- Manually load stock into machine feeding mechanism.
- Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using preset gauges, micrometers, or dial indicators as required by PQR.
- Make operating adjustments with machine controls & tool settings to meet tolerances.
- Retrieve and enter job/part number and labor data into a computer and may record manually various data and measures for department and company performance records. (OEE, hour by hour board etc.)
- Replace worn tooling, bolts, and nuts as needed.
- May operate bench grinder or drill press for chamfering and deburring.
- Observe and apply department and company Safety policies and procedures.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement methods and tools to make work process improvements.
- Knowledge of department/work area methods of operation (standard works), equipment used, and products/parts produced.
- Working knowledge of designated machine operation, and department safety requirements for machinery, materials and personal protection.
- Ability to read blueprints shop orders, quality specifications and other work order information.
- Operating knowledge of hand tools and small power tools used.
- Ability to perform quality measurements, using gages, micrometers, and other QC tools.
- Basic shop math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions and decimals).
- Basic mechanical aptitude (usage of hand tools, basic metrology tools, install/assemble and teardown simple equipment).
- PC skills for basic data access and entry.
- Personal planning and organization skills for meeting daily production needs.
- Knowledge of machine tool changing, startup procedures, operator preventative maintenance, and minor product conformance troubleshooting.
- Teamwork skills (including verbal communications, information sharing, cooperation and conflict resolution)
- Knowledge of Quality ISO procedures and Lean Standard Work
- Exposure to machine oil and fluids.
- Manufacturing / shop environment with large power equipment cutting metal.
- Medium to heavy exposure to various machining fluids.
- Lifting and/or moving objects weighing up to 50 or more pounds.
- Working with and around sharp metal chips.
- May operate various power hand tools like drills, grinders, etc.
- Many hours standing/walking involved (10 )
- High School diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Technical School/Program certificate or diploma, preferred but not required
- No experience necessary
- 1 years of machining work experience in manufacturing environment, preferred
