SUMMARY

Performs a variety of duties related to dine-in service including providing an exceptional dining experience for each guest. Directing and keeping a steady flow of service to the tables, delegating side work evenly to all the servers, scheduling sufficient staff, and maintaining a mental awareness for customer satisfaction.   Effectively and thoroughly manages personnel including adherence to policies and procedures, and motivating employees to ensure a customer friendly workforce that continuously smiles at, acknowledges, and thanks customers. Manager’s time will be split between administrative duties such as answering phones, returning phone calls, booking banquets and catering events, supervision of dining room staff, and closing the dining room.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Have knowledge of all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensuring that the dine-in atmosphere (lighting, music volume/selection, temperature) is in line with company standards.
  • Ensuring that all orders are prepared quickly, accurately, and according to proper procedures to ensure product quality and consistency.               
  • Interact with and build relationships with guests (Names, favorite dishes, special occasions, etc.)
  • Create and manage the schedule, ensuring the proper staff level for business volume.
  • Take, confirm, and manage all reservations, making sure to pay attention to any special requests or guest notes and special occasions such as birthdays/anniversaries.
  • Monitor, manage, and maintain assigned labor budget effectively.
  • Responsible for the condition, cleanliness, and maintenance of all equipment.
  • Complete any other assigned tasks and closing checklists/server checkouts.
  • Support employee morale by maintaining a healthy, safe, and pleasant work environment; resolving any issues as they arise in a timely and professional manner, motivating and building a team.
  • Supporting the individual growth of each employee to reach their full potential. Know their strengths and weaknesses to be an effective mentor.
  • Inspect and maintain product quality, standards, and order accuracy, correcting any issues as they may occur.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment, by following established procedures and applicable health code.
  • Follow proper rotation and restocking procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Directly manages subordinates in the Dine-In areas. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's established procedures, policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

College or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  This position requires a well-organized individual that is self-motivated and takes charge, is dependable and responsible, enjoys new opportunities and challenges, enjoys working with and developing people, deals with criticism calmly and effectively, is careful about detail and is thorough in completing tasks as assigned and on time, is flexible and open to change.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

Knowledge of and the ability to operate phone system, computer, registers and required software thoroughly and effectively.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Able to read, analyze, and interpret ingredient specifications and recipes, general business periodicals, and or governmental regulations.  Able to write and develop creative menu and meal plans, and procedure manuals.  Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, staff, and owners.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of weights and measures.  Ability to apply concepts such as ratios, and proportions for ingredient and nutritional information.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is required to regularly stand, stoop, kneel and walk.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.  The work environment is quick paced in close quarters.   Exposure to heat from ovens, grill and burners is frequent.  Exposure to cool temperatures form coolers/freezers is occasional.
