The Counselor on the Specialized 30-day Step-Down unit provides substance abuse counseling and case management including assessment, treatment, and aftercare planning in accordance with established performance standards. It is essential that this person contributes as a team member to produce an environment conducive to the successful treatment of patients.
Rate of Pay : Bachelor's degree $23.00 /hour with enhanced shift and weekend differentials.
Non-Bachelor's degree $21.00 /hour , with enhanced shift and weekend differentials.
Shifts: 1st shift with some evenings, to include rotating weekends. This is a full-time, 40-hour/week opportunity.

Duties & Responsibilities
- The Counselor will provide counseling services to clients assigned; intervene and provide crisis intervention and management.
- Counselor will provide educational groups to include life skill training, substance abuse education and relapse prevention, per program schedule.
- Communicate program philosophy, goals, and procedures to clients.
- Counselor will conduct screening, intake, and assessment of potential clients for appropriate placement. Provide referrals for alternative programming when necessary.
- Participate in planning, developing, and scheduling of program activities.
- Counselors provide on-going assessment, development and implementation of treatment plans, counseling and on-going referrals when needed. Communicate to the next shift counselor/charge person any pertinent observations.
- The Counselor will participate in on-going supervision, staff training, and staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills:
- CAC, CADC, LADC 2, or the capacity to test and certify as CAC
- Bachelor’s degree in social services or similar discipline, preferred.
- Addiction counseling experience required.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, medical providers, and other staff.
