Job Description
The upper school Spanish teacher is responsible for teaching four sections of Spanish classes
ranging from beginning levels to more advanced. The upper school Spanish program is rigorous
having both a regular and an honors track. All language skills are emphasized, and cultural studies,
literary readings and representative films complement the grammar, vocabulary, and oral/aural
aspects of language acquisition.

preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Salary Range: $70,000-120,000 dependent upon education and experience

For the purposes of management, performance assessment, and span of control, the Upper School
Spanish Teacher directly supervises:
- None
Professional Experience & Qualifications
Minimum Experience: Three years of direct classroom experience
Education: A completed 4-year Spanish Degree
Certifications: N/A
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Spanish degree preferred.
- Experience teaching at an Independent School is preferred.

Working Conditions
In addition to assuming classroom responsibilities, faculty are expected to attend the following
“command performances”: chapel, lunch, assembly, faculty meetings, back-to-school nights,
professional days, parent dinner receptions, Lessons and Carols, Senior Class Communion and
Breakfast (Upper School only), Prize Day, Commencement, and opening- and closing-of-school
meetings.
As a community, we make the effort to support events in the life of the school and occasions that
celebrate our students and colleagues. Performances, concerts, exhibitions, faculty and staff social
gatherings, alumni gatherings, athletic contests, and other shared experiences weave the adults and
students of this community together.
Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule that is generally Monday through Friday but may also
include nights/weekends. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, ability to walk for
extended lengths of time over a sprawling campus.
Work Environment: Generally, work is performed in an indoor climate-controlled environment, but
will also include outdoor supervision of students at periodic intervals.
