As a Housekeeping/Laundry Assistant at St. Andre Health Care, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the facility in a clean, safe, and patient-centered manner.
Your primary focus will be on cleaning and laundry activities according to federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and best practices. By ensuring exceptional cleanliness and fresh laundry, you will contribute to the comfort and well-being of our residents while upholding the philosophy, mission, and goals of the organization. Weekend availability required.

Qualifications:
- Core skills: Cleaning, Floor care, Hotel experience, Hospitality
- Relevant Skills: Janitorial experience, Industrial cleaning, Custodial experience, Housekeeping management
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day housekeeping and/or laundry functions, including receiving and stocking linens, as well as delivering resident clothing.
- Adhere to regulations and best practices, including ensuring mops air dry and following "18" sprinkler regulation.
- Communicate with Plant Operations Supervisor, Admissions, or Nursing regarding discharges and admissions daily.
- Check the "white board" multiple times a day for emergent or unanticipated discharge cleanings.
- Follow the "Discharge Checklist" for optimal cleaning, sanitizing, and room readiness, and submit the checklist upon completion.
- Change privacy (cubicle) curtains at resident discharge and whenever stained or soiled; request Maintenance assistance as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness in laundry areas, floors, and other assigned areas such as administration, library, and laundry rooms.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms and fixtures in assigned areas.
- Strive to provide an odor-free environment by keeping trash and linen off floors.
- Clean walls, ceilings, and surfaces by washing, wiping, dusting, and disinfecting.
- Use approved chemicals and methods for cleaning; utilize proper PPE and cleaning methods in rooms with infectious risks (e.g., MRSA, VRE, C-diff).
- Empty and reline waste/trash containers in assigned areas, keeping containers clean.
- Maintain a clean, stocked housekeeping cart, ready for the next shift.
- Report maintenance issues and resident requests or complaints to Plant Operations Supervisor promptly.
- Report any signs of insects to Plant Operations Supervisor or Maintenance immediately and record the event in the Integrated Pest Control Manual.
- Ensure linen is clean, intact, and stain-free before reusing.
Safety and Sanitation/Environmental:
- Follow safety and sanitation standards in all duties, and report accidents or injuries immediately.
- Report hazardous conditions or equipment issues promptly to Plant Operations Supervisor or Director of Human Potential.
- Participate in mandatory safety, chemical, and dementia-specific in-services.
- Attend facility Associate Staff Meetings as required.
- Use proper body mechanics and ladder safety.
- Clean spills immediately and use sufficient "wet floor" signage.
- Demonstrate proper use of chemicals and chemical containers.
- Participate in environmental, recycling, and waste initiatives implemented in the facility.
