Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Preschool Co-Teacher to join our nature school team. We are a Reggio inspired school and spend a minimum of one hour outside every day, in all weather. As a Preschool Co-Teacher, you will work closely with your team teacher to create a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and develop essential skills. This morning part-time position is M-W 8:00-12:00 and Thursdays 8:00-4:00.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement emergent (child-led) curriculum and activities
- Provide a variety of learning experiences that promote cognitive, social emotional, spiritual, and physical development.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Manage classroom behavior and promote positive discipline techniques
- Assess and monitor each child's progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive learning environment
- Utilize effective communication skills to interact with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and other necessary documentation
Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- Previous experience working with preschool-aged children required
- Comfortable being outside for extended periods of time; experience with outdoor education preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices
- Strong classroom management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children
