Description
St. Andrew's Episcopal School seeks a Foundations Instructional Assistant to care for children (infants through pre-K2), support the lead teacher, and maintain positive relationships with families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Care for and attend to the needs of children including dressing, feeding, and monitoring.
- Assist with learning opportunities for children to build and strengthen brain development as well as communication, social, and gross and fine motor skills.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with families.
- Support the lead teacher as they build partnerships with families to meet the individual needs and stages of each child.
- Manage student behavior through developmentally appropriate classroom management procedures.
- Assist with preparing instructional materials such as lesson materials, bulletin boards, and equipment.
- Clean and sanitize instructional materials, furniture, and equipment.
- Confer with the lead teacher on the progress of students.
- Perform supervisory duties such as lunch, recess, co-curricular, and carpool duties.
- Reinforce lessons taught with one-on-one and small group instruction.
- Encourage students as they learn, socialize, and adjust to the school environment.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional school environment. Prolonged periods of standing and walking and frequent bending. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. Must be able to use hands, reach with arms, kneel, stoop, crouch, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type: This is a twelve-month position.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of one year of experience working with students required.
- CPR certification required.
- Represent the school in the larger community in a positive manner that reflects the values of the school.
- Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with students, parents/guardians, faculty, and administrators.
- Professional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- High degree of cultural competency and demonstrated commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in Google Suite required.
