St. Andrew's Episcopal School is seeking an innovative and passionate Middle School Science teacher for a full-time, permanent position starting August 2025 at our 31st Street campus in Austin, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a strong depth of knowledge in physical, life, and earth sciences, as the teaching assignment will cover these disciplines. Our middle school science program emphasizes hands-on, inquiry-based learning, fostering curiosity and critical thinking in students. We seek a dynamic educator who can create engaging, student-centered lessons that encourage young learners to explore and apply scientific concepts in meaningful ways.
Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in science (physical, life, or earth/environmental sciences), engineering, or STEAM related field and/or at least 3 years of classroom teaching experience in the subject matter. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent character, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for teaching middle school students. St. Andrew’s increasingly utilizes an interdisciplinary curriculum, integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) to solve real-world problems. The ideal candidate should be able to bridge these disciplines, designing engaging, hands-on activities such as Project-Based Learning (PBL) and other student-centered instructional approaches that promote deep learning and practical application.
Additionally, candidates should demonstrate technology integration in both instruction and laboratory settings, ensuring proper lab safety and management protocols. Collaboration with colleagues is essential in creating interdisciplinary learning experiences, while providing timely feedback and support to foster student growth. Strong communication skills with students, parents, and fellow educators are vital to maintaining a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
