AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Spiritual Development
- Develop, plan, and lead programs that can help children of various ages, maturity levels, and temperaments progress in their journey of faith
- Create or select curriculum that works with the various developmental needs and interests of children from birth-fifth grade
- Provide and promote opportunities for children and their families to participate in the wider ministry of St. Andrew’s
- Support, counsel, and guide individual families as needed
- Collaborate with other members of the Family Ministries Team to encourage continuity and cooperation between various ministries
Volunteer Leadership
- Recruit, train, and encourage volunteers who will lead and assist with KidMin programs and events
- Communicate a clear and compelling vision to KidMin volunteers on a regular basis
- Schedule volunteers for weekly programs and special events
- Supervise and schedule childcare workers for weekly worship and other church events
- Ensure that KidMin volunteers and childcare workers are up to date on safety training and background checks
Communication
- Clearly communicate the schedule of events and programs to KidMin families
- Promote upcoming events and programs via email, social media, in-service announcements, and other helpful platforms
- Provide families with information about topics covered in KidMin and tools to continue spiritual growth at home
- Regularly communicate and collaborate with the other staff and ministry leaders at St. Andrew’s
Misc. Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the KidMin budget
- Attend Staff Meetings
- Other duties as assigned by the pastors
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a willingness to grow spiritually
- Commitment to St. Andrew’s unique vision and values
- Bachelor’s degree in Children’s Ministry (or related field such as education)
- At least three years of experience working with kids
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Effective problem-solver
- Flexible, “out-of-the-box thinker”
- Ability to provide leadership, direction, coaching, and mentoring to volunteers
- Ability to effectively manage programs
- Ability to administer multiple programs simultaneously
- Ability to be inviting, inclusive, and build relationship with youth and parents
- Ability to maintain a “big picture” perspective
- A passion for mission work and outreach and youth
- Ability to work a variety of hours, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
