Job Description

 

  1. TITLE:                                                 Assistant Program Administrator – Crisis Residence “The

Beacon”

 

  1. SUPERVISOR:                     Program Administrator – Crisis Residence

 

  1. HOURS PER WEEK:          40 hours per week. Includes evenings and weekends. This role

requires flexibility to work as needed to reason to emergencies and support staff.

 

  1. QUALIFICATIONS:           BA or BS in the field of Human Services preferred; two

years of college required; one-year experience working in a residential setting required. Experience may be substituted for degree requirements if there has been past supervisory experience.

 

  1. REQUIREMENTS:             Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with 

residents. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast paced environment. 

 

  1. FUNCTIONS:                       Support the Program Administrator in overseeing operations and

routine of the Crisis Residence. Supervise youth workers focusing on providing a safe and therapeutic milieu.

 

 

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Recruitment, Supervision, and Training

  • Assist in hiring and training staff.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of program policy and procedure manual. The manual will serve as a guide for program activities to ensure program adheres to all agency, state and federal requirements.
  • Provide informal supervision through daily role modeling, feedback, and on the job training for crisis residence youth workers.
  • Provide formal supervision by meeting with crisis residence counselors on a regular basis.   Formal supervisions includes written documentation.
  • Create a formal agenda and facilitate weekly staff meetings.
  • Provide regular written performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development of youth workers.
  • Delegate assignments to youth workers and provide guidance to ensure tasks are completed.

Unit Programming

  • Create and distribute weekly unit work schedules, ensuring adequate and effective staffing is provided for programming and for all assigned meetings.
  • Ensure implementation of program policies and procedures.
  • Ensure therapeutic, trauma-responsive, age-appropriate routines.  
  • Ensure that the living unit is a clean, safe, therapeutic and trauma-sensitive environment.
  • Track unit inventories, submit purchase orders and maintenance requests as needed.  
  • Maintain an effective communication system, both written and verbal. Ensure that program  logs are accurate and thorough.
  • Ensure assigned staff conduct monthly unit inspections.
  • Participate in making recommendations for reviewing and evaluating the program.

 

Crisis Management:

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team in development and implementation of individualized treatment plans.
  • Respond to and assist in managing crisis involving residents, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Support the development and implementation of crisis intervention protocols and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff during crisis situations.

 

General

  • Review, approve and submit biweekly timesheets for youth workers.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team approach to treatment.
  • Abide by the NYS Justice Center and the SAI Codes of Conduct/Ethics.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Program Administrator.
