Principal Responsibility

St. Anthony’s Medical Clinic provides primary and specialty care to individuals and families in the Tenderloin neighborhood. Our range of primary, preventative, and ancillary care support all patients in building healthy lifestyles for themselves and their families. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Clinic RN Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of clinical services for St. Anthony’s Medical Clinic (Clinic).  This role collaborates with the Clinic Medical Director to ensure compliance with regulations, direct quality programming, manage staff, including recruitment and retention, and deliver on all Clinic-related performance metrics and outcomes. A strong leader, the RN Manager will create a patient-centric, collaborative, and results-oriented culture where individuals are empowered to work at the top of their licensure level.  The RN Manager will collaborate with other departments, programs, and services to promote and provide integrated care for the whole person. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Staff Performance and Development

  • Coordinate staff schedules and duty assignments to ensure adequate coverage in the clinic.
  • Demonstrate a high level of ownership; empowers the team to work at the top of role/licensure, work autonomously, and solve problems.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and team huddles.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, orientation, training, evaluation, and supervision of all non-provider clinic staff (Nursing, Medical Assistant/Back Office, Front Office, and Referral personnel).
  • Regularly complete staff performance evaluations and provide feedback on skill development and performance. Responsible for training staff on standard operating procedures for the department and partner agencies.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development to identify and execute staff development opportunities.

Program Leadership, Administration, and Operations

  • Create a patient-centric, collaborative, and results-oriented culture.
  • Responsible for all aspects of payroll, time capturing, supervision, approval, and monitoring of employee time worked and overtime. Oversee, correct, and submit staff timesheets and requests bi-weekly.
  • Ensure clinic compliance with regulatory requirements; coordinate audit preparation and submission of required elements.
  • Ensure program policy and procedure documents are consistently maintained and up to date; communicate updates to staff.
  • Serve as the quality lead for the Clinic, directing the Quality Risk Management plan and the interdisciplinary Quality Improvement Committee (QIC) team.
  • Participate in improvement projects and patient safety initiatives.
  • Responsible for data entry into data management systems. Ensure that documentation information is accurate and entered timely.
  • Provide for ongoing evaluation of work unit services and service delivery to ensure quality services and responsiveness to changing client needs and populations.
  • Provide information and recommendations and assist in long-range strategic planning for future service development and delivery.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget; receives and prioritizes requests from clinic staff for medical supplies and equipment.
  • Serves as a role model, ensuring all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.

Interdepartmental and Community Relationships, Collaboration, and Communication

  • Oversee work unit communication and information flows.
  • Actively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as health plans, the Department of Public Health, SF Community Clinic Consortium, and others.
  • Participate in relevant meetings supporting team communication and the program's capacity to fulfill organizational goals and mission.
  • Collaboratively works with others to achieve team success.
  • Manage stress and pressure situations calmly and responsively. Maintain the capacity to control reactions and awareness of how their behavior or response can impact others.
  • Consistently demonstrate integrity while working and representing St. Anthony’s.
  • Practice direct, respectful, open, and honest communication with their colleagues. Proactively seeks support from team members or management.
  • Demonstrate cooperation with coworkers, management, and, fellow community-based organizations, and the community at large.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of high school, supplemented by graduation from an accredited school of nursing or an equivalent combination of training and experience. BS in nursing is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Possession of CPR certification.
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct patient care experience plus a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience is desired.
  • Requires thorough working knowledge of techniques and procedures used in professional nursing, including understanding medical terminology, use of an EHR, clinic workflows, Policies & Procedures, and maintenance of equipment and physical plant.
  • Experience working in an FQHC setting preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in a second language is strongly desired (Spanish, Mandarin, Tagalog, Cantonese). Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to be polite, diplomatic, and firm. Can set limits and practice professional boundaries with guests, volunteers, donors, and coworkers.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations in a self-composed and self-assured manner.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and facilitation skills. Strength and leadership in staff and program development.
  • Experience working in a non-profit or community-based social service agency with people experiencing homelessness or poverty desired.
  • Commitment to St. Anthony Foundation Statement of Values and a desire to work for a social services agency serving the poor.
