Director of 8th Grade Program Position
St. Augustine Preparatory School, an independent 8 - 12 boys school located in Richland, NJ, seeks Director of 8th Grade Program for a full-time exempt position.
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Three to five years’ experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work well with a variety of other personalities
Functions of the Job:
Provide effective strategic leadership and oversight of the Prep’s Finance and Accounting program with attention to the following:
- Understand the mission of the school and promote the Augustinian values of VERITAS (Truth), UNITAS (Unity), and CARITAS (Love)
- Support for the school’s Diversity, Equity Inclusion, and Belonging Initiative
- Serve as the main point of contact for 8th grade students and parents, while also serving as a liaison for the Leadership Team
- Write a bi-monthly newsletter/email to 8th grade families
- In conjunction with Mission and Ministry, develop, implement and maintain the planning, organization, and execution of 8th grade retreat experiences and service projects
- Communicate with admissions, teachers, and administrators to retain students and convince other new parents to commit to St. Augustine Prep for High School
- Collaborate with the Dean of Academics on issues related to academics
- Organize and execute the 8th grade third semester course, interdisciplinary project, and monthly experiential learning excursions
- Coordinate with 8th grade teachers to identify any students with academic issues and communicate with parents and Dean of Academics; lead the 8th grade level teacher meetings
- Collaborate with Guidance and Counseling, teachers, and parents to assist in the implementation of student learning profiles
- Develop and oversee academic improvement plans for students who are not maintaining the academic standards outlined in the student handbook.
- Plan and run meetings to address 8th-grade specific topics and/or the Habitudes theme of the day
- Collaborate with the Dean of Student Leadership on issues related to Student Leadership and discipline
- Coordinate with 8th grade teachers to identify any students with behavioral issues and communicate with the Dean of Student Leadership
- Under the direction of the Dean of Student Leadership, along with other stakeholders, develop, implement and maintain the planning, organization, and execution of the 8th grade orientation program
- Under the direction of the Dean of Student Leadership, participate in the planning of the Brotherhood Ceremony
- Under the direction of the Dean of Student Leadership, develop, implement and maintain the planning, organization, and execution of 8th Grade Moving Up and Awards Ceremony
- Facilitate monthly student recognition awards and holiday parties
- Serve as the 8th grade point person for Student Government
- Facilitate 8th grade club offerings and assist those moderators
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
