Director of Annual Fund and Major Gifts Position
St. Augustine Preparatory School, an independent 8 - 12 boys school located in Richland, NJ, seeks Director of Annual Fund and Major Gift for a full-time, 12-month exempt position.
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including the ability to investigate, interpret, advise, compose, persuade, arbitrate, and autonomously determine conclusion, prepare compelling proposals for individuals and funding organizations.
- Track record of proven success in securing individual gifts including annual fund support, major and planned gifts. Demonstrated skills in effective relationship management with high-level and mid-level supporters.
- Knowledge of and compliance with the Fundraising Code of Ethics.
- Ability to qualify potential donors that represent the highest giving potential for the organization.
- Ability to create strategic plans for each donor, including reasonable financial goals based on the donor’s giving and capacity, cultivation and stewardship steps.
- Ability to create personal contact and ask plan that considers the individual donor’s interest, motivations, giving patterns and ask preferences.
- Proficiency in Google and Raiser’s Edge a plus.
- Flexible to meet changing and dynamic aspects of donor fundraising.
- Must have the ability to safeguard confidential and sensitive donor and organizational information.
- Must be able to work independently while also serving as a member of a team
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet deadlines
Functions of the Job:
- Understand the mission of the school and promote the Augustinian values of VERITAS (Truth), UNITAS (Unity), and CARITAS (Love)
- Support for the school’s Diversity, Equity Inclusion, and Belonging Initiative
Annual Fund:
- Work collaboratively with the Advancement team to create and manage a comprehensive fundraising plan and appeal schedule for The Annual Fund.
- Create and implement strategies to achieve Annual Fund goals.
- Create and manage a calendar/schedule of multidimensional appeals that leverages a variety of media (e.g., electronic solicitation, social media, direct mail appeals, face-to-face solicitations, events) to communicate with potential and current donors.
- Build relationships with constituents and personally solicit an assigned pool of prospects as appropriate.
- Utilize Raiser’s Edge to track visits, produce contact notes, and conduct appropriate constituent follow-up.
- Coordinate the gift entry and acknowledgment process with the Database Manager to ensure timely recognition of gifts.
- Draft and coordinate Annual Fund solicitation and acknowledgement letters, social media posts.
- Analyze results of the fund by tracking progress from year to year and generate reports and statistics.
- Contribute content to school publications and social media as appropriate.
- Attend on-campus and off-campus events, as appropriate.
- Assist with prospect research.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer.
Major Gifts:
- Manage a portfolio of 100 prospects, which includes individuals, families, family foundations, business, corporations and private foundations with the capacity to give $10,000 or more.
- Works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer to develop individual identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for the purpose of securing gifts and grants to support the programs and mission of St. Augustine Preparatory School across the region.
- Collaborate with the Chief Advancement Officer to identify foundations to apply for grants.
- Solicit in person as well as various outreach to individuals, foundations, family foundations, organizations, and corporations.
- Uphold donor centric practices to all aspects of work and collaborate with the Advancement team to ensure coordination of activities so the donor has a seamless and exceptional experience.
- Responsible for accurate and timely documentation of all personal contacts and moves in prospect database/Raiser’s Edge.
- Participate in special events as they relate to engagement opportunities for fundraising; provide recommendations on invitation lists that involve donors or prospects.
- Uses relevant technologies and multimedia outlets to support communicating and engaging donors while adhering to the policies and procedures of the organization.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer.
