Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to
The AIS Reading Teacher will:
- Provide targeted reading interventions for students in grades K-8 who are identified as needing academic support, using data-driven approaches aligned with New York State standards.
- Develop and implement individualized and small-group lesson plans designed to address specific learning gaps in reading.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to identify student needs, develop intervention plans, and monitor progress.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques, including multisensory strategies, to engage students and foster a love for reading.
- Regularly assess student progress using formal and informal tools, adjusting instruction as needed to ensure growth.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to parents, classroom teachers, and administrators.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture by supporting academic growth, character development, and spiritual formation.
- Attend and participate in school events, professional development opportunities, and faculty meetings as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Literacy, Reading, Education, or a related field.
- Valid New York State Certification in Childhood Education, Middle School Language Arts, or Literacy (preferred)
- Experience providing reading support or interventions in an elementary or middle school setting, preferably in a Catholic school environment.
- Knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction, intervention programs, and assessment tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to Catholic teachings, values, and mission.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.
Employment Requirements
Employment is contingent upon acceptable results of a state and federal background check, completion of VIRTUS Training, reference checks, and the submission of all required paperwork.
