Responsible for the supervision of and the athletic performance training of student-athletes including the implementation and execution of all strength/conditioning programs to student-athletes of teams assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning and coordinating the prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletically related injuries with the sports medicine staff.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assist the Director of Strength and Conditioning with the design, implementation, and execution of strength and conditioning programming for all intercollegiate athletic programs 20Direct the implementation and execution of the strength and conditioning programming for assigned teams 40Assist the Director of Strength and Conditioning and/or Sports Medicine Staff Member with all pre-arranged rehabilitation workouts of injured student-athletes 10Provides assistance with the upkeep of the Varsity Weight Room and the maintenance of the equipment10Provide input to the Director of Strength and Conditioning in regards to the operating budget and purchasing of equipment for performance training and upkeep of the weight room. 5Supplemental Functions: Assist in overseeing student interns and student volunteers by assigning duties and particular assignments within the grand scope of the strength and conditioning program (cleaning, re-racking of the weights, spotting, etc.)15Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to act with honesty and sportsmanship at all times so that intercollegiate athletics as a whole, the university and they as individuals, represent the honor and dignity of fair play and the generally recognized high standards associated with wholesome competitive sports. Solid knowledge of NCAA, Atlantic-10 Conference, and St. Bonaventure University’s regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes. Ability to handle highly confidential material and maintain strict confidence is A MUST. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures and have knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the strength and conditioning program. Ability to maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff, students and others and possess the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to the needs of all prospective as well as current students. Excellent writing skills and the demonstrated ability to develop written reports and action plans. Good organizational, oral and recruiting skills. Ability to work effectively, decisively and flexibly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to identify problems and to propose feasible solutions. Strong organizational skills, ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Knowledge of, or ability to learn Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Also experience with athletic training technologies such as Tendo, PUSH, EliteForm, and tracking systems like Catapult or similar systems is a plus. Ability to design, implement, lead, and guide student-athletes in areas of dynamic/static mobility drills, SAQ drills, sport-specific conditioning, and proper strength training protocols. Knowledge in the Olympic Lifts and having the ability to coach is a necessity. Ability to travel with the team [if warranted by specific sport coach] for pre-game warm-ups/activation of student athletes. Ability to accept and provide effective supervision, assignments, change and correction.
