St. Bonaventure University is seeking a Manager of Prospect Research. The Manager of Prospect Research conducts research on individuals and performs a variety of prospect management activities for the purpose of enhancing fundraising efforts. Major prospect and donor information is disseminated to the various constituencies of the University including but not limited to the president, vice president of university advancement, select members of the board of trustees, and major gift officers in support of fundraising initiatives. The manager ensures that there is a sufficient pool of major gift prospects necessary to ensure a successful campaign and annual fundraising program. In addition, this person lends direct support on research strategies for identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities. The manager assists in the development of policies and procedures as they pertain to prospect research. Duties include but are not limited to, prospective donor identification and research (including developing detailed donor profiles, event bios, and new prospect/lead synopses); assignment of prospects to staff; assessment and analysis of prospects relative to their capacity and propensity to give; and other research activities in support of development initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Some experience or understanding of the research process is required. Familiarity with using research resources (such as LexisNexis, ResearchPoint, DonorSearch, LiveAlumni and Internet search engines)
is preferred
Strong communication, writing and analytical skills and ability to think creatively
Experienced user of Raiser’s Edge or equivalent donor management system
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software to include Word and Excel
Superior attention to detail and excellent proofreading abilities
Highly organized with a proven ability to produce results in a highly deadline-oriented environment
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to prospect information
Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of a team
