This unit is designated for acute inpatient substance abuse treatment services, which includes providing 24 hour nursing care and observation of patients that are detoxing from drugs and alcohol. When going through alcohol or drug detoxification, some individuals may have severe withdrawal problems that require inpatient medical services. St. Charles Hospital offers medically supervised detox to help reduce the physiological and psychological risks for patients ages 12 and older.
Our Medical Withdrawal (Alcohol & Drug Detox) RN's:
- Assess, monitor, administer medication, document progress, and manage overall care for patients actively withdrawing from various substances.
- Partner with an interdisciplinary team including, but not limited to, attending physicians, registered nurses (RN), and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Advocate for and build meaningful relationships with patients and loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support and education.
Qualifications:
- Passion for Chemical Dependency/Addictions Nursing
- 1 Years working RN experience strongly preferred
- Previous RN experience working with psychiatric, addictions, or med-surg patient populations preferred
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred
- Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration
- Certification: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
Detoxification is the first step in recovery. St. Charles Hospital has up to 20 hospital beds dedicated to medically supervised detoxification. As a licensed acute care hospital, we can manage complex medical conditions. We currently have an adult program serving those aged 18 and older and an adolescent program for teens aged 12 to 18.
