Job Summary – About the Role
Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the District’s safety and administrative policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
This position is well suited for someone with a pleasant personality with an enthusiastic attitude. Work record that shows reliability, initiative, tact, honesty and productivity.
Required: High School Degree, or in process. Minimum 16 years of age and Illinois Department of Health Food Handler or Food Manager Certified, or willing to be certified. Must be detail oriented to be able to process information accurately. Must be able to communicate in a professional and enthusiastic manner. Must have strong interpersonal skills and work well with the public. Must be able to operate concession equipment, cash registers, point of sale software. Must have knowledge of and/or learn the following areas: Cash register operation, cash handling, hours of operation, menu items, pool rules, policies and procedures. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Must have or complete Mandated Reporter within 30 days of hire date.
Essential Functions of the Position

- Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District’s safety and risk management program.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
- Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
- Comply with park district policies and administrative procedures.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Recreation, Assistant Superintendents of Recreation, Aquatics, RVMG & Haines Manager, Aquatics and Youth Supervisor, Pool Manager, Assistant Pool Managers, and the Concessions Coordinator, the Concession Attendant shall complete assigned duties to the best of their abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:
- Demonstrate ability to work independently or with limited direction; anticipate needs for successful operation of facility.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while performing duties, and while on park district premises.
- Abide by uniform standards while on duty.
- Be responsible for opening and closing of assigned service areas.
- Assist in daily cleaning of assigned service areas. Help maintain overall cleanliness of facility.
- Execute cash handling policies and properly handle money including keeping an accurate drawer.
- Be responsible for balancing of the point-of-sale receipts.
- Maintain and promote excellent customer service relations with patrons, staff and affiliates.
- Politely greet and interact with all patrons.
- Notify patrons of early aquatic facility closings, inclement weather, safety and health regulations.
- Be responsible for the preparation, service, inventory, and reporting of food items and other sales inventory.
- Continue education by attending and actively participating in trainings and staff meetings.
- Secure a substitute for any scheduled hours that cannot be worked.
- Understand and utilize the communications resources of the entire facility including but not limited to two-way radios, phones and the PA system.
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to duties involved and support all aspects of the Park District Safety Program.
- Recognize, report, and respond to any unsafe conditions and execute effective emergency action plans.
- Maintain and carry out all State, City, County and State Health Departments, and the St. Charles Park District’s rules and regulations.
