SUMMARYThe position is responsible for skilled work in the preventive maintenance and repair of all motor vehicle equipment and performs federally mandated yearly certifications on airport firefighting apparatus. Performs repairs and maintenance on all ground support equipment (GSE) and other equipment as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.• Services and repairs all airport vehicles and motorized equipment including specialized equipment such as aircraft GSE, snowplows, snow blowers, sprayers, public safety vehicles, sand spreaders, mowers, and tractors.• May fabricate specialized parts and devices to perform equipment repairs or meet facility and operational needs.• Performs preventive maintenance on all vehicles.• Installs accessory equipment.• Maintains tool and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.• Performs duties in accordance with airport safety rules, regulations, and practices.• Reports irregularities and abnormal conditions.• Assists in the training of other employees.• Assists employees of equal or higher classification.• Operates snow removal equipment and performs snow removal duties as required.• Provide input for long term vehicle replacement program to include end of life, replacement and acquisition of fleet vehicles.• Must be able to work in highly elevated locations such as in a boom/basket of deicing truck when making repairs and adjustments to the equipment.• Performs other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.• Ability to obtain and maintain an airport-issued security ID badge.• Ability to obtain and maintain a Scott Air Force Base security ID badge.• Must be available to be on-call and respond timely after hours when designated, and in the event of recall for weather related events and emergencies.
