Position Summary
The Sr. Systems Analyst is responsible for varied projects and coordinating the efforts between the information technology staff and the users of the medical center’s information technology components. Based on the area of assigned responsibility, this position will provide assistance in the acquisition, installation, training and proper use of computer hardware, software and network infrastructure equipment/services. Assists in problem determination, testing and quality control. Provides technical consultation to other analysts in the IT Department. Requires guidance on purchasing new hospital information technology components as well as tools used to help the IT staff be more efficient.
Duties/Responsibilities
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration required or related areas preferred.
Experience
Minimum of eight years’ experience with information technology in one or more of the following areas: systems analysis, virtualization, enterprise network infrastructure, hospital management, or healthcare information technology. Expertise with VMware, Cisco routers/switches/wireless, scripts, technical writing, SQL Server, TCP/IP, software development, structured query language or other similar areas required
Licensure/Certification
Depending on the area of assignment, certifications such as VMWare certified professional, Certified Cisco Network Administrator or similar may be required.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Confers with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational procedures, hardware, network equipment/services, or software to identify problems and learn specific input and output requirements such as forms of data input/usage, how data is to be summarized, and formats for reports.
- Writes detailed description of user needs, functions, and steps required to develop, acquire, implement and/or modify information technology components.
- Reviews computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested change is possible within existing system.
- Studies existing information processing systems and workflow to evaluate effectiveness and suggests/develops new systems to improve production or workflow.
- Prepares workflow charts and diagrams to specify in detail operations to be performed by equipment and computer programs and operations to be performed by personnel in system.
- Plans and prepares technical reports, memoranda, and instructional manuals as documentation of changes and/or development.
- Upgrades system/equipment and corrects errors to maintain system/equipment after implementation.
- Assists in resolution of work problems related to project specifications, programming and other related areas
- Prepares time and cost estimates for completing projects.
- Coordinates work of others to develop, test, install, and modify information technology components.
- Assists in the research and development of detailed specifications and requirements of information technology components that are requested.
- Participates in cyber security initiatives.
- Knowledge of healthcare operations in a patient care setting preferred. Project management skills necessary to coordinate multi-phase, multi-disciplined projects with all levels of medical center staff. Training and education skills necessary to teach information technology basic concepts and related courses are required.
