We are currently seeking a full-time surgery scheduler to join our team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Schedules patient surgeries by coordinating schedule between surgery facility, doctor and patient. Monitors the progression of pre-operative process to ensure surgeries may be performed at the scheduled time.
- Obtains medical history and medication information from patient, determines the pre-operative labs, appointments, and medical care necessary based on that information.
- Evaluates lab test results to determine if further action or review by physician is necessary.
- Maintains effective working relationship with patients and clinic personnel in order to meet the needs of both parties.
- Complies with clinic policies and procedures on regular work attendance.
OTHER DUTIES
- Provides patient with information regarding surgery.
- Consults with doctors regarding surgery schedules, pre-op testing, and any changed medical conditions of the patients.
- Accurately completes a variety of forms and paperwork for communication with surgical centers and patients.
- Follows professional guidelines and policies on pre-operative requirements.
- Maintains awareness of changing medical technologies.
EXPERIENCE
- At least one year of experience in a medical or surgical setting.
- A strong understanding of medical conditions preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of office procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type patient information accurately.
- Knowledge of various insurance types, authorization submission and tracking processes.
- Ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to monitor and guide pre-op process from beginning to end.
- Ability to multi-task effectively and make decisions in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and pleasant manner.
