Position Summary: The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling and obtaining prior authorizations and referrals for patient procedures and surgeries performed at outside facilities. Ensures effective and efficient communication between providers, clinical staff, and patients.
Essential Functions
- Ensure effective and efficient communication between providers, clinical staff, and patients
- Accurate scheduling of inpatient and outpatient procedures and surgeries
- Administer prior authorization and referral process to ensure maximum benefit coverage
- Provide basic patient education regarding procedures
- Collaborate with medical business office to ensure proper claim processing
- Determine if there are site of service restrictions for service
- Review insurance policies
Qualifications
- High School Diploma; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 3 years of healthcare administrative/business office experience preferred
- Working knowledge of prior authorization process
- Basic understanding of medical terminology
- Excellent customer service, communication, written and critical thinking skills required
- Ability to plan, organize, and integrate priorities and deadlines
- EMR experience, Epic preferred
